Almost 4 years later and picking back up...

Reading through our old blog posts, kind of made me miss blogging so, here we go again. The last time I had checked in Malia had just turned 1 and we had done a pretty pony birthday party for her. She had just learned how to walk at 11 months and was our little love and only child.

Malia is now almost 5 and almost done with pre-school. She wants a dinosaur party this year. She's super smart, has a great desire to be independent, but prefers mom and dad to play with her and she loves books and creating/crafting. She loves making mom presents while she works and creating cards. She's learning how to read and can sound out a lot of words. She can be sensitive and is very squeamish when she gets hurt. She hates having her hair brushed! She's got that beautiful sensitive scalp I remember having as a kid as well :)

After Malia turned 4, we had our son, Dexter Cole who is now 10 months old. He was another easy birth, but a little bit harder of a pregnancy. I blame it on being pregnant after age 30. Instead of a less than 1 hour super speedy delivery, Dexter took his time which we loved. We were able to check into the hospital around 5:30 pm, watch some TV (HGTV - my choice :) and let things progress naturally before he was born around 5 hours later. I spent most of the time bouncing on a hospital ball and walking the halls. The contractions felt like period cramps. About 10 mins or less before Dexter was born I felt the painful contractions finally come and Dexter was born soon after at 10:21 pm. Easiest delivery for my midwife I think. I truly believe I'm missing some pain registers, but am fully glad my labors are as nice as they are!

With both Dexter and Malia I tore and the stitches I feel were much worse than delivery. I had a much easier time getting Dexter to latch and nurse. Second time around is easier! He's nursed exclusively since as I've been able to work from home.

Dexter has been such a sweet, good, happy baby. He smiles ALL the time and his smiles just light up his face. Like Malia, he's always tall and thin at his wellness visits. I think he has similar features, but his skin tone and eyes are a little lighter than Malia's. A lot of people think he looks like his dad :) Dexter loves eating. We go through a lot of baby food and are so glad he's been able to start eating regular food as well. His absolute favorite toy is his dump truck. He gravitates to things with buckles or wheels. He's such a boy and I love it! That's all for now, but hoping to check in again later with some pictures and more updates on what's been going on in our lives and what's up ahead!
